February 23rd is National Dog Biscuit Day!  Here’s an easy recipe that you can make at home for your dog in honor of this special day!  Enjoy!

My Best Friend’s Biscuit

1 ¼ cup (or more) water

4 cups wheat flour

½ cup cornmeal

1 egg

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

½ cup sunflower seeds

½ teaspoon honey

1 tablespoon garlic powder

Mix dry ingredients together in a large bowl.  In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, oil, honey.  Set aside.  Add the water a bit at a time to the dry ingredients until batter becomes moist.  Add in wet ingredients and the sunflower seeds. Mix all together until workable dough forms.  Roll dough on clean surface and cut into desired shapes.  Place on greased cookie sheets and bake at 370 degrees for 20-25 minutes.

Let biscuits cool completely before storing.  Store in airtight container layered with wax paper.  Consume within 1-2 months or freeze for up to 6 months.
