1st Day of Summer!

The first day of summer falls on June 21st.  The timing of the solstice depends on when the Sun reaches its northernmost point from the equator. The word solstice comes from the Latin word solstitium, from sol (sun) and stitium (to stop).  It is the day with the most hours of sunlight during the whole year.

Here are some summer fun ideas to celebrate the first day of summer this year:

FUR ANIMAL SHELTERS:

Hold a SUMMER SALE-A-BRATION!  Offer pet adoptions at half price on the first day of summer or hold an open house showcasing your facility and the animals looking for a FURever home!

FUR CANCER ORGANIZATIONS:

Have a survivors picnic and enjoy the longest day of the year with outdoor fun and a celebration of life!

FUR EARTH CONSERVATION GROUPS:

A summer solstice party is in order!  Have a yoga session in the morning, followed by an organic lunch and conclude with a star gazing party at night!  A great way to celebrate Mother Earth and illustrate everything you do FUR THE EARTH!
