Happy 4th of July! Summer is in full swing and it is the season for events, fairs and festivals.
Many non-profit groups and charitable organizations attend summertime events to promote themselves and raise awareness and funds for their organization. It is important to make sure you are making the most of the event you are attending.
Although many festival organizers will not charge non-profit organizations for booth space, some do charge. So, you want to make sure that you are getting the proverbial “bang for your buck”.
Here are some tips and suggestions on how to utilize your booth to help advertise, promote and reach out to the general public.

Plan Your Booth:
Stand out – display materials professionally and creatively
Stand tall – make certain someone is always at your booth to answer questions and hand out information. Stand don’t sit. Talk don’t text. And a smile goes a long way on a long day!
Get attention – try to incorporate an interactive display by engaging participants by having them sign up for your email list, or participate in a short survey. Offer a free gift for their participation. This is a great way to get information and feedback from the general public and future supporters.
Circulate – shows, festivals and events are great networking opportunities. Be sure to talk to your neighbors and network!
After the Show:
Be prompt about notifying any prize winners and following up with any prospective supporters, volunteers or contacts
Thank the volunteers or staff that helped plan and man your booth
Write down any ideas or interesting things that may have happened while you attended the event…you never know when it may come in handy!
