Happy New Year! It is 2019 – a brand new year! Here are some words of wisdom to keep in mind as we move through another 365 days….
N – NEW – It is a new year – filled with opportunities, new ideas and even new problems. As an organization, agree to tackle everything that may occur this year in a new way!
E – ENGAGE – Whether you are training volunteers, hiring employees, or creating a campaign for the general public, be sure to engage your audience keeping in mind that underlying question that gets asked by your target audience “what’s in it for me?”
W – WIN – As an organization, define your “win” for the year. What will it be? Increasing your volunteer base? Working on your bottom line? Acquiring that grant or new opportunity? Maybe it is all of these things. No matter what your “win” for 2019 is, be sure to define it as an organization.
Y – YES – Remember to consider saying “yes” even when your first thought is to say “no”. Saying “yes” to a new proposal, a new office procedure, or project may mean change, so keep an open mind to the possibilities of saying “yes” this year!
E – EXPLORE – Explore possibilities that may be “outside the box”. They say necessity is the mother of invention, but don’t be afraid to explore those ideas and projects that may have been talked about but never explored fully.
A – ACCEPT – Be willing to accept the good and bad this year. Be realistic and able to work with what you have remembering some expectations and goals may not be met.
R – REMEMBER – Always remember your mission statement. It is the foundation and core of your organization. If you don’t already do it, read your mission statement at the start of regular meetings with volunteers, employees and clients. It is a great way to remember why you do what you do and is a great way to share your vision.
Here’s to 2019!!
